09/06/25 - 12:56 pm

Praia, Jun 9 (Inforpress) - The Tabanka from Achada Santo António (ASA) neighbourhood, in the city of Praia, has been holding street activities with cultural and sports programmes over the past few days, in honour of its patron saint, Santo António.

Evanildo Jorge Mendes, president of Tabanka from ASA, explained to Inforpress that, as in previous years, the activities began with sporting competitions, followed by cultural moments that culminated with the sale of the saint on the 13th, the day the patron saint is celebrated in the neighbourhood's Catholic church.

‘The cultural activities, as always, kicked off with a batucada at night, to bring together the devotees and friends of Saint António, in a colourful procession to the sound of the drum, cornet and conch rhythms, and will culminate on the 13th,’ he explained, stressing that everything has been running smoothly and without any incidents.

Evanildo Mendes also emphasised that the activities have taken place under the protection of the National Police.
