Praia, Apr 3 (Inforpress) - The General Inspectorate of Economic Activities (IGAE) will start to monitor the collection of tourist tax from tour operators this April, according to information published in the Official Gazette.

According to Official Gazette I Series no. 6 of 3 April 2025, the supervision of the sector, which includes all tourist activities, including hotel accommodation establishments, travel and tourism agencies, service providers and tourist maritime activities, will now be the responsibility of the IGAE, under the terms of article 2(b) of Decree-Law no. 18/2024 of 18 April on the transfer of competences.

In this context, the Cabo Verde Tourism Institute (ITCV), on its official website, calls on all non-compliant tour operators to regularise their activities, failing which they will face administrative offence proceedings and fines, in accordance with the legislation in force for each activity.

He also informed us that the IGAE will be carrying out inspections on the island of Sal from 7 April for three weeks and that the ITCV will continue to be responsible, among other things, for licensing tourist activities.
