Praia, Apr 3 (Inforpress) - The Embassy of Brazil is inaugurating an exhibition entitled ‘Atlântico Negro’ (Black Atlantic) on Monday 7 in Praia, highlighting the resilience and beauty of Cape Verdean women through the works of Amadeo Carvalho and Cida Lima.

The exhibition, according to the embassy, is the result of a collaboration between Cape Verdean artist Amadeo Carvalho, who lives in London, and Brazilian artist and researcher Cida Lima, who is recognised for her symbolic use of African references in her work.

‘Atlântico Negro’, explains a press release, proposes an aesthetic and sensitive reflection on the role of Cape Verdean women in society, addressing themes such as memory, identity and resistance, promoting artistic expression as a means of dialogue and social awareness.

The exhibition, the result of an artistic collaboration between Cabo Verde and Brazil, reinforces the historical and cultural ties that unite the two countries, highlighting the role of art in valorising human dignity and building more inclusive and just societies.
