Nova Sintra, 1 October (Inforpress) – Maria Fernandes, a Cape Verdean emigrant living in the United States of America, today expressed her willingness to continue supporting social initiatives aimed at the elderly, whilst also calling on other emigrants to contribute.

Maria Fernandes, who works in the United States in the field of care for the elderly, believes that the professional experience she has gained further strengthens her commitment to this cause and, for this reason, calls on everyone to come together, each according to their means, for the well-being of the island’s elderly.

“In the United States, my job is to look after the elderly. That’s why I’m always ready to help in any way I can, to ensure that everyone is treated well,” she said.

During her stay on Brava, the emigrant intends to strengthen her ties with the Red Cross and the Dona Edith Gomes da Silva Day Centre, organisations that play “an important role” in supporting and looking after the elderly.
