Praia, 1 October (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde Telecom and DE-CIX have signed a letter of intent to assess the creation of a digital interconnection corridor in the South Atlantic, linking Lisbon to São Paulo, the national operator announced today.
In a statement, the company explained that the project aims to facilitate data traffic between Southern Europe, West Africa and Latin America via a more direct route, reducing dependence on the routes through Northern Europe and North America.
The cooperation agreement provides for the interconnection of infrastructure and the reciprocal provision of services: CVTelecom will provide transport capacity between Lisbon and São Paulo, whilst DE-CIX will provide access to its ecosystems in strategic markets such as Frankfurt, Madrid, Marseille, New York and São Paulo.
According to CVTelecom, the scope of the partnership, the technical implementation and the commercial terms will be set out in a final agreement between the parties.
