Nova Sintra, 30 Sep (Inforpress) – The Mayor of Brava, Amândio Brito, said today that the Lomba Tantum cable car is now operational and working “perfectly” following the correction of technical faults detected in its engine.
The mayor’s response comes in the wake of concerns raised publicly by Ivone Cardoso, an MP for the Movement for Democracy (MpD, opposition), who highlighted the inactivity of the facilities supporting the local fishing community.
The same source had highlighted the role the co-operative had been playing in supporting the fisheries sector and in community development, emphasising the need to find solutions to the constraints affecting the organisation and the fishing community.
Speaking to Inforpress, the mayor of Brava emphasised that the cable car began operating on 17 May and is now transporting fish as normal, following a coordinated effort between the local authority and the Government, through the Ministry of the Sea, which, he explained, “made every effort” to ensure the facility could become operational.
