Praia, 24 (Inforpress) – The Cape Verdean national football team arrived in Bamako, the capital of Mali, early this morning with 24 of the 26 players called up for the AFCON 2027 qualifying double-header, due to the absences of Willy Semedo and Laros Duarte.
According to the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF), winger Willy Semedo missed this double-header due to an injury sustained during training in Portugal, while midfielder Laros Duarte was excused from the first match to be present for the birth of his son.
According to the same source, Willy Semedo is unavailable for the two matches of this international window, but Laros Duarte is expected to be available for the national team's second fixture—against Rwanda in Cabo Verde.
The Tubarões Azuis’ first qualifying match for the 2027 African Nations Championship (CAN) will be against Mali in Bamako, before they return to Cabo Verde for their match against Rwanda.
