Praia, 11 September (Inforpress) – The new French Ambassador to Cape Verde, Omar Keita, expressed on Thursday his country’s desire to deepen bilateral ties and boost French investment in the archipelago.
The French diplomat highlighted the existence of an “exemplary partnership” between Cape Verde and France, rooted in historical relations spanning 50 years and encompassing the economic, cultural, scientific, linguistic, and—above all—human spheres.
Omar Keita made these statements to the press on the sidelines of the ceremony for the presentation of his credentials to the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves.
As explained, around 100,000 people in France maintain close ties to Cape Verde—whether through nationality, ancestry, or origin—while between 150,000 and 200,000 French people choose the archipelago each year as a destination for tourism or business, or to settle there.
