Espargos, Sept. 9 (Inforpress) – The documentary “Pedra d’Sal: Memory, Identity, and Legacy,” presented on Sal, aims to recover and preserve the island’s collective memory and cultural identity, giving people a voice to retell the story of its settlement and local labor.
This assurance was given to the press today by the project's initiator, Cátia Gonçalves, who explained that the idea to produce the approximately 30-minute audiovisual work arose during a conversation with a colleague, when she became aware of facts and experiences from the history of Sal that were unknown to younger generations.
“That sparked my curiosity; if I didn’t know, I imagined the younger generations didn’t either. We then decided to move forward with the documentary to share a bit of all the stories people need to know,” revealed Cátia Gonçalves.
The project was developed by a group of five young people from the island who came together to conduct fieldwork and research.
