São Filipe aims to turn its comparative advantages into competitive ones with government support

Praia, 1 September (Inforpress) – The Mayor of São Filipe, Nuias Silva, called on Monday for the island of Fogo’s comparative advantages to be transformed into competitive advantages through structural investment and with the support of the Government.

Nuias Silva was speaking to the press at the Government Palace following a meeting with the Prime Minister and members of the Executive, as part of the consultation process with local authorities organised by the Government.

According to the mayor, the meeting made it possible to establish a “shared vision” for the island’s development, and he highlighted the openness shown by the Prime Minister and members of the Government towards the proposals put forward by the local council.

“There is a shared vision for the island’s development,” he said, adding that realising this vision requires investment and funding mechanisms capable of driving forward the projects deemed a priority for São Filipe and the region.
