The KORDA programme focuses on training and exchange to boost the performing arts

Praia, 31 August (Inforpress) – The KORDA programme aims to strengthen training for young people and children and increase the range of performing arts events on offer in Cabo Verde, through exchanges between Cape Verdean and foreign artists, the organisation said today.

The initiative forms part of one of the Kontornu platform’s programme strands, which is dedicated to dance and the performing arts, and stems from the need to promote activities beyond the Kontornu Festival, the platform’s main event, which takes place every year in May.

“We have to tackle this, and through this KORDA programme – which, at its core, is about forging a bond, a bridge between Cabo Verde and artists from all over the world,” explained Djam Neguin, director of the Kontornu platform, in comments to Inforpress, calling for a more regular programme of artistic events throughout the year.

The first edition of the programme features the Brazilian artists Ricardo Aparecido and Karla Mendes and is the result of an application to the Funarte International Connections Programme, through which the Brazilian Ministry of Culture supports Brazilian artists in undertaking international exchanges.
