São Vicente: Government plans 3.5 million contos investment package for the island – minister

Mindelo, 25 August (Inforpress) – The Government is planning an investment package for São Vicente totalling around 3.5 million contos, with projects in the areas of infrastructure, housing, post-Erin recovery, Porto Grande and Cesária Évora International Airport.

A figure mentioned on Monday to Inforpress by the Minister for Infrastructure, Housing and Spatial Planning, Carlos Alberto Tavares, during a visit to the Chã de Alecrim Canal construction site in Mindelo.

“São Vicente has a planned investment package for 2025 of around 3.5 million contos,” said Carlos Alberto Tavares, adding that the Government will have to “mobilise further resources” to complete certain priority works relating to the post-Storm Erin recovery.

The ongoing projects include the Chã de Alecrim Canal, a drainage scheme valued at around 85,000 contos, which is approximately 90 per cent complete.
