Fogo: Cospe highlights the increased value of Cutelo Capado cheese and the strengthening of Coopap at the project's conclusion

São Filipe, August 19 (Inforpress) – The regional coordinator of Cospe for West Africa, Alessia Tibollo, highlighted on Tuesday, the 18th, the importance of the project “improvement and diversification of the value chain of goat cheese from Fogo”, by Coopap.

Alessia Tibollo, speaking during the closing ceremony of the project implemented within the framework of Destino Fogo, funded by the European Union, highlighted the path developed jointly between Cospe and the Agricultural and Livestock Products Cooperative (Coopap) and stated that the initiative made it possible to modernize production, reinforce and value one of the most authentic traditions of Fogo Island.

According to the official, the project has enabled the co-operative to make “a qualitative leap” in the collection and processing of goat’s milk, through the purchase of equipment that provides more modern, hygienic and efficient conditions for production.

For Alessia Tibollo, valuing a traditional product like goat cheese also means valuing the knowledge of the communities, the territory, the culture, and the economic potential of Fogo Island.
