The CNE begins missions to the diaspora to prepare for the 2026 Presidential Elections

Porto Inglês, 18 August (Inforpress) - The National Electoral Commission (CNE) began a series of missions to electoral constituencies in the diaspora on Monday, as part of the preparations for the 2026 Presidential Elections and to strengthen electoral administration abroad.

In a statement, the institution reported that the missions cover the three electoral districts of the diaspora—Africa, Europe and Rest of the World, and America—and aim to harmonize procedures, train stakeholders, and promote more informed electoral participation among Cape Verdean communities residing abroad.

The initiative will also allow for the review and evaluation of the 2026 Legislative Elections, the identification of constraints and best practices, and the definition of improvement measures for the next electoral process.

The first mission will take place in Senegal, between August 16 and 20, with a delegation headed by the president of the CNE (National Electoral Commission), Maria do Rosário Gonçalves.
