Basketball: Men's under-16 national team makes its debut in official FIBA competitions in Senegal

Praia, August 18 (Inforpress) - The national under-16 men's basketball team will participate in the Zone 2 tournament in Dakar, Senegal, from August 20 to 24, marking the country's absolute debut in competitions organized by FIBA at this level.

The assurance was given today to Inforpress by the president of the Cape Verdean Basketball Federation (FCBB), José Semedo, who added that only logistical and financial details regarding airfare remain to be finalized to make the delegation's trip to the neighboring country possible.

The official expressed his expectation that the issue would be resolved by the end of the day, allowing Cabo Verde to participate in a competition that will bring together eight regional teams.

The national team will consist of athletes residing in Cabo Verde and players from the United States, a country identified by the federation as one of the markets where it intends to continue recruiting talent, along with Portugal, France, and other countries within the diaspora.
