Praia, 23 July (Inforpress) – The Director-General of UNESCO highlighted the “excellent relationship” between Cabo Verde and UNESCO and expressed a desire to strengthen institutional cooperation in areas considered strategic for the country’s development.

This intention was expressed by Khaled El-Enany after meeting with the Prime Minister, Francisco Carvalho, and the Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, António Duarte, at the Government Palace in Praia.

According to the head of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Cabo Verde occupies a unique position within UNESCO because it brings together two fundamental priorities of the organization: Africa and Small Island Developing States.

During the meetings with government officials, topics were discussed relating to the preservation of cultural and natural heritage, the promotion of the creative industries, education for sustainable development and the strengthening of scientific research linked to the oceans.
