Lantuna regrets the resumption of construction work on São Francisco beach despite the ban announced by the authorities

Praia, 11 June (Inforpress) – Ana Veiga, executive director of the Lantuna Association, today expressed regret at the resumption of work currently underway on São Francisco beach, despite earlier reports that the project had been suspended by the relevant authorities.

The project, a leisure area with a restaurant and other amenities on São Francisco beach, is surrounded by controversy because, according to the Minister of the Sea, Jorge Santos, the project's typology has been altered to include a concrete construction, which is inconsistent with the concession agreement.

Speaking to Inforpress, Ana Veiga said that the association had received reports from local residents about activity at the construction site and had gone there to assess the situation.

“Yesterday we received complaints from people in the community, we went to the site and found that, in fact, there had been work done on the construction,” said the environmental activist, adding that she had images showing structures that had been placed on the site, “so the work is not completely stopped.”
