Uni-CV launches a degree course in Translation to boost the international profile of Cape Verdean authors

Praia, 10 June (Inforpress) – The University of Cabo Verde is to launch a bachelor’s degree in Translation, with the aim of promoting the internationalisation of Cape Verdean literature and meeting the growing demand for translations of works by national authors, the institution announced.

The information was provided by Fátima Fernandes, director of the Eugénio Tavares Chair of Portuguese Language at the University of Cabo Verde, as part of the cooperation and research initiatives developed by the university, which has been strengthening international partnerships in the area of ​​languages, literature and culture.

The training, he explained, is part of the higher education institution's strategy to promote national literary production and ensure greater international visibility for Cape Verdean writers, through the training of professionals specialized in the field of translation.

According to him, the initiative also aims to address the lack of translators with specific training in the Cape Verdean context, contributing to the wider dissemination of literature and knowledge produced in the country.
