Sal: Major joint operation by the PJ and PN dismantles child prostitution ring and arrests 16 people

Espargos, 27 May (Inforpress) – A joint operation by the Judicial Police (PJ) and the National Police (PN) dismantled an alleged child prostitution ring on Tuesday 26 May in Sal, leading to the arrest of 16 individuals suspected of the sexual abuse of minors.

According to information provided by police sources, the criminal investigations that led to this operation had been meticulously coordinated and carried out by the relevant authorities since 2023, culminating in the simultaneous execution of the search warrants.

The same source added that the operation was the result of search and arrest warrants issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for action taken outside of flagrante delicto.

In total, the operational teams approached 20 individuals at their homes during coordinated operations in the towns of Espargos and Santa Maria, as well as in the village of Vila da Murdeira.
