City of Praia, Feb 11 (Inforpress) – The chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Multi-sectoral Economic Regulatory Agency (ARME) assured today that the costs associated with the implementation of 5G technology will not be passed on to consumers, guaranteeing a balance between operators’ sustainability and pricing.
Leonilde dos Santos was speaking at a press conference to present the National Strategy for the Implementation of 5G, horizon 2026–2036, promoted by the Government, involving an investment of around three million contos.
According to Leonilde dos Santos, the rollout of 5G goes beyond increasing internet speed, as it constitutes a structural infrastructure that will enable the development of new services in areas such as digital health, distance education and other strategic sectors.
The ARME chair acknowledged that challenges persist in remote areas and so-called “shadow zones”, but assured that the national strategy provides specific mechanisms to reduce asymmetries in internet access.
