Embassy of Cabo Verde in ECOWAS represents “strong signal” for integration – Jean-Claude Kassi Brou

Praia, Apr 28 (Inforpress) – ECOWAS Commission President Jean-Claude Kassi Brou said Wednesday that the opening of a Cabo Verde embassy in ECOWAS and Nigeria (Abuja) is “an example, it is openness” and “a very strong signal.”

“The permanent representation in the ECOWAS will allow regular and permanent contacts on all issues of integration,” he said in a press statement after being received in a courtesy visit by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia, at the Várzea Palace.

Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, who is making an official visit to Cabo Verde from April 27 to 29 at the invitation of Ulisses Correia e Silva, stressed that the permanent presence of Cabo Verdean personalities at all ECOWAS meetings, whether technical or ministerial, or even a meeting, also represents “a very strong engagement” in regional integration.

Changing the subject, the president of the ECOWAS Commission stressed that Cabo Verde is a model of democracy in the region and for the world, citing that there are some difficulties in the regions for democratic reasons, but in the archipelago it is possible to see a living and dynamic democracy, which allows internal exchanges and a “very strong” democratic process.
