Mindelo, Sep 27 (Inforpress) – Singer Élida Almeida was today at Jorge Barbosa High School in Mindelo to draw young students’ attention to the “delays” and “impediments” can come out from a teenage pregnancy.
The conference is part of the “Adolescence first and pregnancy later”, campaign sponsored by the singer and resulting from a partnership between the Cabo Verdean Institute of Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG), the United Nations, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.
Élida Almeida told the press in Mindelo that one of the main messages she has been focusing on is how much a teenage pregnancy can “delay or prevent” young people from achieving certain goals.
“I’ve been through and I’ve lived it and I know how much it has hindered me to achieve certain goals and goals that I have set,” said the same source, who said he warned teenagers not to follow her example of being pregnant at the age of 16.
