Diplomacy: Minister denies commitment to systematically vote for Israel

Praia, Aug 11 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communities, Luís Filipe Tavares, today denied the existence of a commitment by Cabo Verde to systematically vote for the State of Israel in United Nations bodies.

“We will not systematically vote against Israel because it is Israel,” said Luís Filipe Tavares, in an interview with Radio of Cabo Verde, assuming that the Cabo Verdean vote at the United Nations will depend on the Government’s analysis of each one of the situations that are on the table.

According to Luís Filipe Tavares, Cabo Verde has had excellent relations with Israel for many years, and it is intended to deepen these cooperation relations in areas such as renewable energies, water production and processing, agriculture, security, defense and several other areas of common interest.

“Cabo Verde has had a coherent foreign policy for many years, and we have taken on all of our international responsibilities,” said the Cabo Verdean diplomat, adding that “we approve, we respect and support all democratically adopted UN resolutions.”
