Dioceses of Mindelo and Santiago celebrate mass in memory of Pope Emeritus Benedict XIV

Praia, January 4, 2023 (Inforpress) – The Dioceses of Mindelo and Santiago celebrate today and Thursday, respectively, the suffrage mass for the soul of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who died last Saturday, December 31, at the age of 95.

Diocese of Mindelo celebrates today the suffrage mass for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, at the Pro-Cathedral Church of Nossa Senhora da Luz, at 6 pm, presided by Bishop Dom Ildo Fortes and concelebrated by the priests who are on the island.

The Diocese of Santiago scheduled the mass for January 5, Thursday, at 6 pm at the Pro-cathedral of Nossa Senhora da Graça, in Praia.  According to advanced information on the website of the Diocese, it should be presided over by Bishop Dom Arlindo Cardeal Furtado.

The bishops invite all the faithful to participate in the suffrage mass, defined by Dom Ildo Fortes as “an act of love, gratitude, solidarity and homage to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, for the extraordinary wisdom, courage and humility with which he led the Church in difficult times”.
