Praia, May 17 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde Broadcast’s chairman said today that the penetration rate of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) has already reached 75%, but there is a expectation of total coverage in the national territory later this year.
Luís Ramos, who was speaking to Inforpress about the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, which is being observed today, said that Digital Terrestrial Television is now in the islands of Santiago, São Vicente and Sal. The inaugural ceremony on May Island will take place on the 25th.
“These four islands are practically covered and we also have DTT signals in the municipalities of Santa Catarina and Mosteiros, in Fogo Island, and also in the city of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, which receives signals from the center installed in Monte Verde in São Vicente”, he clarified.
According to this official, because there are still localities with shadow zones, which do not receive any television signals, one of Cabo Verde Broadcast’s (CVB) major purposes, besides making the transition from analogue to digital, is to try to solve also the issues of shaded areas and areas that traditionally never had access to television.
