Deputy Prime Minister states the State solution to leave CVA is now “practically impossible”

Praia, Oct 15 (Inforpress) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Olavo Correia, said that the State solution to leave the share capital of Cabo Verde Airlines (CVA) is today “practically impossible”, this due to the new circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Olavo Correia made this observation during an intervention in the debate on transport at the first October plenary session of the National Assembly, which kicked off this Wednesday.

“We are in a phase of stopping the model had been pre-established. And we have to find a solution that can allow the convergence of positions and interests to make the company viable”, he said.

He added that the CVA, in 2019, represented close to 8% of the national wealth. “This is business. They are taxes, jobs, invoicing for various stakeholders providing services to CVA. This is the impact on the economy. Unfortunately, that [the model] has now disappeared and we have to work to recompose this future evolution”, he stressed.
