Deputy PM says government has fulfilled commitments on salary increase and still has credit

Praia, Oct 17 (Inforpress) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Olavo Correia said Tuesday that the government has credit for the salary adjustment, which could be corrected in the budget it will present for next year.

Olavo Correia, who was speaking at the presentation of the State Budget proposal for 2020, which does not foresee any salary increase, stated that the Government has fulfilled the commitments made in the Social Concertation Council regarding the salary increase.

“When we look at cumulative inflation from 2016 to 2019 the figure is 1.9 percent (%) and we gave a 2.2% salary increase for common staff which is over 1.9% and the special staff has increased by more than 10%,” he explained, indicating that there are no spaces for further increases.

“We still have a credit for the salary adjustment that can be corrected in the budget that we will present over the next year. So here we are complying with the common staff and we are complying with the special staff,” he said.
