Praia, July 6 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente said Tuesday that culture has been instrumental in forming what is the idiosyncrasy, the way of being and thinking of Cabo Verde in these 42 years of Independence.
Speaking to the press at the end of a guided tour to Cidade Velha of the Cabo Verdean ambassadors and representatives of international organizations accredited in Cabo Verde, the minister said that “everything we think of as a people was born of music and literature at the end of the19th/20th century, pre-clarity and clarity,” emphasized Abraão Vicente.
According to the official, the struggle for National Independence that is being marked this Wednesday was forged in the work of the authors in the new start and post-independence.
Abraão Vicente also said that it is the writers and musicians to divulge what is the history of Cabo Verde.
“Cesária Évora was the greatest exponent and an artist who did for Cabo Verde what few politicians and leaders did during these 42 years of independence,” stressed Abrãao Vicente.
