CPRSS’ President of PAICV says that, despite some layoffs, the body has legitimacy to work


Praia, July 4 (Inforpress) – The president of the Regional Policy Commission for South Santiago of the PAICV (CPRSS), Nelson Centeio, said today that of the 31 CPRSS members only six resigned, which means that the body has legitimacy to work.”

At a press conference to react to the media reports that the CPRSS had fallen, it accused the leader of the Cabo Verdean Independence Party (PAICV-opposition party), Janira Hopffer Almada, of having done “everything from systematic and meticulous way “to overthrow the Regional Political Commission of South Santiago, which he said,” was democratically elected by the basis of the party militants with almost 65% of the vote. ”

“My victory has always been badly digested by some members of the current National Directorate and by the party’s own president,” said Nelson Centeio, adding that, even in the pre-poll phase, which won his candidacy, the PAICV president called him to her office to ask me  not to apply.

“It was expressly said by the president that I was not welcome,” said Centeio, referring to his candidacy for CPRSS, whose “main mission” was to “fight to recover respect and tolerance among the militants” and promote “internal cohesion and unity”.
