COVID-19: UNDP supports municipalities with 200 thousand dollars to deal with the pandemic

Praia, Jul 29 (Inforpress) – The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will support five Cabo Verdean municipalities with an amount of 200 thousand dollars (about 20 million escudos) to implement emergency measures to combat COVID-19 pandemic.

São Salvador do Mundo, São Lourenço dos Órgãos, Ribeira Grande de Santiago, Tarrafal de São Nicolau and Maio are the municipalities covered, as said by the National Planning Director, Gilson Pina, on the sidelines of the presentation of the COVID-19 Project.

This financing project of 789.060 dollars (about 74 million escudos) and whose proposal was presented in the context of the pandemic, aims to support the Government with emergency measures to face the crisis caused by the pandemic.

“It is a project that will finance five municipalities, with very specific criteria, namely the prevalence of positive cases in these locations and the poorest municipalities we have in the country,” said the official.
