Praia, Aug 13 (Inforpress) – The Iraque communities in Mindelo, Povoação Velha in Boa Vista and Água Funda in Praia will receive from Community-Managed Funds that will support families in creating income-generating activities.
The information was provided by the UN-Habitat technical advisor and focal point in Cabo Verde, Jeiza Barbosa, on the sidelines of the Country Team1 meeting for the validation of the Community Managed Funds strategy within the framework of the Participatory Slum Upgrading Programme ( PSUP).
She explained that PSUP provides a fund worth one hundred thousand dollars (about 9 million escudos) for the promotion of income generating activities in the communities of Iraque in Mindelo, Povoação Velha in Boa Vista and Água Funda in Praia.
“This activity was already foreseen in the programme execution, however we are trying to accelerate its implementation because we are aware that with the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the income have been reduced for several families or they have lost their sources of income”, said Jeiza Barbosa who considers that the PSUP has had a “positive” impact on the archipelago.
