Mindelo, May 12 (Inforpress) – Passengers who traveled from Santo Antão to São Vicente, in the resumption of maritime connections, said they were satisfied with the trip and safety standards adopted, despite the delay of about an hour in boarding in Porto Novo.
The resuming of the maritime passenger line between Santo Antão and São Vicente, which took place after more than a month of suspension, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, undertook aboard the the Chiquinho BL Ship, fell as a relief for several passengers, especially workers, who were stranded at these two islands.
The ship was supposed to leave the Porto Novo docks at 10:00AM, but it only managed to leaves São Vicente an hour later.
In a statement to Inforpress, Ildo Gomes, who works as a taxi driver, stated that the trip was “a great thing” that happened because many passengers were stranded in Santo Antão, eager to return to São Vicente Island.
“I work here in São Vicente and I’m a taxi driver. So, I was happy to return, because I had been wanting to return for a long time, as I had been in Santo Antão for over a month. It was a very important thing for everyone”, he confessed.
