COVID-19 / Sal: Economic operators skeptical about the resumption of tourism despite the opening of flights in December

Santa Maria, Nov 13 (Inforpress) – Economic operators in the hotel business in Sal are skeptical about the resumption of tourism, even with the announcement of the opening of flights scheduled for December 15, envisioning this possibility by the end of 2021.

The feeling among economic operators confirms that the future situation in the sector will not improve in the near future, as long as the major tour operators, such as TUI, Tomas Cook, for example, do not start flying to Cabo Verde. At this moment they are talking just about opening with TAP and SATA flights.

“I do not believe in any resumption of tourism this year, until the major operators do not start flying to Cabo Verde, and we are seeing what is happening in Europe,” commented Patone Lobo, Odjo d’Água Hotel owner, forecasting the reconquer of tourism maybe for the winter of 2021.

“Until the vaccine is found … until then, it will be very difficult”, he observed, not very excited, pointing out, however, that the Odjo d’Água Hotel is prepared to receive tourists, having adopted sanitary and hygiene measures against COVID-19, to ensure security for visitors.
