Covid-19: Relâmpago does not give up football season but  focus on pandemic prevention

Praia, Apr 8 (Inforpress) – Associação Desportiva Relâmpago does not consider the football season to be lost in South Santiago, although the suspension of the championship due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with its team in the struggle to remain in the 1st division.

The president of this young sport association, Sabina Fortes, told Inforpress that at the moment the management is all focused on this fight against Covid-19, having even launched a campaign to raise “1 kg of food” aimed at the most needy, with the understanding that the group invests mainly in social work and sport appears as a way to help those most in need.

Fortes expressed her understanding for the suspension of the championship an acceptable measure to prevent the spread of the pandemic, and underlined that since the federation canceled the championship, her football club automatically suspended all its activity, in order to avoid people gathering.

In this case, she highlighted the role played by the football team coach, who she considered to be a “very serene” coach and who knew how to look on the positive side, having also thanked the understanding registered within the athletes make up the squad.
