COVID-19: PR foresees gradual phasing out of the most restrictive measures in the islands without positive cases

Praia, Apr 24 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, said that if things go well, they will start the gradual phasing out of the most restrictive measures in the islands without positive cases of COVID-19.

The head of state spoke to journalists after his meeting with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health and Social Security to assess the extension of the state of emergency runs from midnight April 18 until May 2, in the islands of Boa Vista, Santiago and São Vicente.

On the islands of Santo Antão, São Nicolau, Sal, Maio, Fogo and Brava the measure will last only nine days, until midnight April 26.

“We look forward to carrying out an evaluation on these cases, with there still being uncertainties, especially for the islands, whose term of the state of emergency ends later, on May 2,” he stressed, stating that they will carry out an analysis of the next few days so that can have a clearer idea about the post state of emergency.
