Praia, May 3 (Inforpress) – A team from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) from Portugal will be from May 4 to 11 in the islands of Santiago and São Vicente to support the efforts of Cabo Verdean health authorities in combating against COVID-19.
In a press release the Embassy of Portugal in Cabo Verde informs that this team, composed of a doctor and a logistics technician, will be accompanied by an employee from the Cooperation and Language Institute.
The INEM team purpose, according to the same source, is to identify the needs of Cabo Verde’s health structures in response to the pandemic situation, at the request of the Cabo Verdean government.
“The diagnosis carried out by the INEM team will serve to prepare the future mission of a Portuguese medical team, with a view to strengthening the responsiveness of the National Health Service of Cabo Verde, through the provision of human and technical resources,” the statement reads.
This action is part of the implementation of the Action Plan on the Health Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic between Portugal and the Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP) and East Timor.
