Covid-19 / Porto Novo: Farmers’ association has already made available more than two tons of products available to needy families

Porto Novo, Apr 27 (Inforpress) – The Ribeira da Cruz Farmers’ Association, in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, donated, during the state of emergency, 2.500 kilos of various agricultural products to vulnerable families in this municipality, said the association leader.

The association, which includes more than 200 farmers, had already made available, last week, about a ton and a half of products through the solidarity platform, created to serve vulnerable families with foodstuffs, and, this Sunday, delivered to the Tope Coroa association (Planalto Norte) near 800 kilo products.

According to the president of the Ribeira da Cruz Farmers’ Association, this action follows the campaign launched to support the most needy families, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, in which more than 2.500 kilos of fresh products have already been donated.

This is an initiative carried out in partnership with farmers from the communities of Chã de Norte, Chã de Branquinho, Martiene and Jorge Luís, which aims to help improve the diet of Porto Novo Novo citizens, especially families affected by drought the past few years.
