COVID-19: Mandatory testing is back in force for Santiago Island travelers

Praia, Jan 12 (Inforpress) – Travelers from Santiago Island will again be obliged to carry out rapid tests for inter-island trips, the national director of Health said today.

Jorge Noel Barreto, who was speaking at the usual press conference to take stock of the pandemic situation in Cabo Verde, also informed that the largest island in the country has an incidence rate of 57/100 thousand inhabitants.

Therefore, passengers from Santiago Island will have to take a test to travel to Islands like Brava, Sal, Boa Vista and São Nicolau, because, as explained by Jorge Noel Barreto, they are Islands have a lower incidence rate than Santiago at this moment.

Cabo Verde recorded until this Monday, one death, in São Vicente, and 41 new cases. New infections were registered in Praia (3), São Domingos (1), São Miguel (3), Mosteiros (7), Ribeira Grande de Santo Antão (2), Porto Novo (2), São Vicente (17) and Maio (6). The country now has 520 active cases, 11.793 recovered cases, 115 deaths, 3 deaths from other causes and 2 transferred, making a total of 12.433 accumulated positive cases.
