São Filipe, May 25 (Inforpress) – The : Local Red Cross Council of Cabo Verde (CVCV) of São Filipe started on Sunday, 24th, the distribution of 80 food baskets to the most vulnerable families in São Filipe and Santa Catarina do Fogo, within the scope of COVID-19.
The president of the Local Red Cross Council, which covers the municipalities of São Filipe and Santa Catarina, Pedro Pires, indicated that the distribution of food baskets came as a result of the solidarity campaign promoted by emigrants resident in the Netherlands called “Ami é Cabo Verde” .
According to him, this action will cover a total of 80 families, 25 of which are from Santa Catarina and 55 from São Filipe, mainly from the countryside, with each food basket containing 12 components of different foodstuffs and hygiene products.
The head of the local council of CVCV said that this campaign will cover families with some difficulties that were not addressed by the distribution of food baskets took place on May 8th, within the framework of “dribbling the pandemic, COVID-19” promoted by the players of Cape Verde’s national team. The distribution started on Sunday, 24th, in the municipality of Santa Catarina, and will be completed today in the city of São Filipe.
