São Filipe, Jun 29 (Inforpress) – Clube Futebol Atlântico, from the second division of Fogo, implemented a project consisted on granting food baskets to the most deprived families in the city and in the north part of the island to d deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The project, called “food aid to the neediest families in the municipality of São Filipe”, benefited close to a hundred families and had the funding and partnership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which provided the club with 400.000 escudos for the purchase of foodstuffs among other items.
The president of this sports association, Bruno Teixeira, stated that given the pandemic situation, the club took advantage of the stop / cancellation of the sport season to mobilize partnerships for this act of solidarity, having thanked the Church for having contributed financially to its implementation.
He also thanked the management for their involvement in this project from its beginning until the distribution of food baskets last Friday, covering the most vulnerable families in some neighborhoods in the city of São Filipe and in locations such as Cutelo, Piquinho, Às-Hortas, Santo António, Ponta Verde, Curral Grande, Galinheiro, São Jorge, Campanas de Baixo.
