Praia, Jun 24 (Inforpress) – The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Santos, said Tuesday that Cabo Verde can benefit from INTERREG projects, which include the outermost regions, under the Madeira-Azores-Canary Islands (MAC) programme, funded by the European Union.
The information was gave by Jorge Santos this afternoon, during the press conference to speak about the parliament presidents of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands meeting, the Regional Legislative Assemblies of the Azores, Madeira and Cabo Verde, which took place on Monday, by videoconference.
The parliamentarian recalled that Cabo Verde has a special partnership with the European Union and already benefits from the Madeira-Azores-Canary Islands (MAC) programme under the INTERREG projects that benefit the outermost regions.
“It is in this context that we are doing all parliamentary politics and diplomacy in the sense that Cabo Verde will benefit from these programmes, to minimize the impact of the coronavirus”, said the president of the National Assembly, stressing that the objective is to mitigate the “devastating effects” of COVID-19 at the social level and strengthening the national health system.
