COVID-19: “Back home” initiative does not apply to people from islands with positive cases – Government

Praia, Apr 24 (Inforpress) – The Government clarified today that the “back home” initiative does not apply to people from islands with positive cases of COVID-19, more precisely Santiago, Boa Vista and São Vicente.

In a statement, the executive recalls that it passed a resolution that provides the return to the habitual residence of citizens who, due to the prohibition of flights and inter-island connections, were retained outside the island where they usually live.

The Government’s statement also states that the same is true for people who have elderly and disabled people in charge, people with health problems and who need family support and other situations that recommend returning home.

“This is an exceptionally applicable measure and it will only be authorized after two negative laboratory tests, mandatory quarantine on the destination island and testing before the end of the quarantine. The Minister of Internal Affairs is responsible for the authorization ”, adds the same source.
