Praia, Jun 15 (Inforpress) – The national director of health, Jorge Noel Barreto, said that a total of 41.616 people have received the vaccine first dose in Cabo Verde and the more they adhere the more will be vaccinated.
Jorge Noel Barreto, who was speaking at a press conference to take stock of the COVID-19 weekly in the country, said that of this total, illegible people over 18 years vaccinated represent 11% of the population, health professionals 99.7%, chronically ill 16.5% and with 60 years and older 48%.
“If we consider the INE estimates this is a good result for people aged 60 and over, although we need to further improve this indicator, and the desirable is that we have 70% of people, at this age stage, vaccinated because they are those who, due to complications and chronic diseases, most go to hospitals,” he said.
Jorge Noel Barreto also reinforced in his communication the idea that the Government is working for all people to be vaccinated later this year. Vaccination, he explained, aims to reduce and prevent circulation of variants and complications because of COVID-19, as well as reduce deaths.
