Constitutional expert proposes reforms in the electoral system and the appointment of the Attorney-General of the Republic and the President of the Court of Auditors

Praia, Sep 26 (Inforpress) – The Constitutional expert and professor Wladimir Brito defended this Sunday reforms in the Constitution of the Republic in the electoral system and in the Attorney-General of the Republic and the President of the Court of Auditors be appointed by the President of the Republic.

These and other proposals were presented by the Portuguese-Cabo Verdean Constitutional expert later this afternoon, during the conference “What Constitution for the Complex Society?”, promoted by the Presidency of the Republic, to mark the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic.

Thirty years after its creation, with the change of civil society, he stressed that it is necessary to find criteria that allow the Constitution to be adapted to this new reality and can respond to the social concerns of the complex society.

With regard to the electoral system it proposes that there be a one-way constituency, where each island elects an MP and then the parties create their party lists so that the islands can be represented in Parliament by an MP who has to account for his/her own constituency periodically in each constituency.
