Praia, Sep 8 (Inforpress) – The Constitutional Court dismissed the appeal brought by Alex Saab, who argued the Barlavento Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Justice conducted the process of his extradition to the U.S. applying unconstitutional rules.
This decision consists of a 194-page Judgment of the Constitutional Court, consulted by Inforpress on the institution’s website.
Alex Saab, 49, was arrested on June 12 by Interpol and the Cabo Verdean authorities during a technical stopover at Amílcar Cabral International Airport in the Sal Island, on the basis of an international arrest warrant issued by the United States of America (USA), who consider him an “iron forehead” of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
His arrest placed Cabo Verde at the center of a dispute between the Nicolás Maduro Regime in Venezuela, which alleges its diplomatic functions at the time of the arrest, and the USA Presidency.
