Competition of mountain track circuits may be an important alternative to the highlands of Santo Antão – PM

Ribeira Grande, June 27 (Inforpress) – Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva said Sunday that the implementation of athletics events in mountain circuits could be a “very important” alternative to boost the highlands of the island of Santo Antão.

Ulisses Correia e Silva, who continued his visit to the municipality of Ribeira Grande on Monday, spoke to the Corda area population referring to the loss of opportunities that the entry into operation of the Janela / Porto Novo road brought to the bordering localities to the Ribeira Grande / Porto Novo road, via mountain.

Previously, agricultural production could be disposed of through the sale to people who traveled on that road, but with the entry into operation of the Janela / Porto Novo road, traffic was drastically reduced and things became more difficult for the local population.

“The Minister of Sport was in the Canaries precisely to ‘drink’ the experience of organizing mountain circuits, in athletics,” said Ulisses Correia e Silva to emphasize the idea of betting on sports tourism and another, as an alternative to the development of Corda and other localities in Eastern Plateau.
