CNE President calls on political parties to comply with the parity law concerning the composition of candidate lists

Praia, Jul 31 (Inforpress) – The president of the National Elections Commission (CNE), Maria do Rosário Gonçalves, Thursday called on political parties to comply with the parity law concerning the composition of candidate lists, which must respect 60 / 40 for both sexes.

“We call on all political parties to prepare ahead of time, especially with the new challenge, which is a possible challenge to compose candidate lists with 40/60 of both sexes,” she said.

Maria do Rosário spoke to journalists as president of the Network of West African Electoral Management Structures (ECONEC), following the presentation, in Praia, of the study on “cost of legislative and presidential elections in the ECOWAS region – Case of Cabo Verde ”.

Urged to talk about preparations for the local elections to be held in the coming months in Cabo Verde, Maria do Rosário Gonçalves said that in logistical terms the central support service is already preparing public procurement, namely the paper for ballot papers, which it has already been deliberated by the CNE.
