Mindelo, Jun 30 (Inforpress) – The City Hall of São Vicente delivered a ventilator for the treatment of patients with COVID-19 to the Baptista de Sousa Hospital and eight thousand masks to be shared by the hospital and the Health Department on Monday.

With the new ventilator, already installed in the sector intended for the hospitalization of COVID-19 patients, at Baptista de Sousa Hospital, this unit is equipped with the second equipment,  according to the director three additional ventilators are expected to arrive, offers from local companies, not counting the four that the hospital already had in its intensive care service, and those in the operating room.

In the act of delivery, the mayor, Augusto Neves, highlighted the importance of twinning for his municipality, as the equipment donated was an offer from the City Hall of Porto (Portugal), twinned with São Vicente, through its Mayor, Rui Moreira, who has “a great friendship” with the island.

In fact, according to Neves, as a result of the contacts he maintained with fellow mayors of Portuguese City Halls twinned with São Vicente, more equipment from other Portuguese municipalities is expected to arrive in the near future.
