City Hall of Santa Catarina reiterates commitment to solve the problem of sand extraction in Ribeira da Barca

Assomada, Sep 15 (Inforpress) – The City Hall of Santa Catarina is mobilizing resources with several partners so that it can implement two alternative projects to sand extraction on the Charco beach, in Ribeira da Barca and solve the problem definitively.

This intention was reiterated Wednesday by the Councilwoman of Social Development, Isabel Monteiro, during her intervention in the meeting with women who live from the sand extraction, which was attended by the Secretary of State for Social Inclusion, Lídia Lima, and which had as stage the Young Space at Ribeira da Barca.

The officer, who noted that as a consequence, in addition to the environmental imbalance, sand extraction still brings serious health problems to those who live from this practice, recalled that the City Hall has in progress two alternative projects to the sand extraction related to one plantation and greenhouse and another one a poultry industry.

By the way, she informed that these projects beneficiaries have already received training and many women in that fishing village who lived from the sand extraction are benefiting from some social projects of the City Hall and Government, such as Social Inclusion Income  (RSI).
