City Hall of Mosteiros works towards elevating coffee to municipal intangible heritage – president

São Filipe, April 16 (Inforpress) – The president of the Mosteiros City Hall, Fábio Vieira, said that the local municipality’s biggest ambition is to elevate the Fogo coffee to municipal intangible heritage and work towards it being subsequently classified as national heritage.

This position was defended by Fábio Vieira at the ninth edition of the coffee festival which ended today in the city of Igreja, after three days of activities.

“We are working not only to promote the integration of this festival into the international agenda of coffee-related events, but also its elevation to Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage,” highlighted Fábio Vieira, acknowledging that there is still a lot of work to be done, but he hopes to count on the engagement and contribution of everyone.

According to the mayor, the Fogo Coffee Festival has been asserting itself, year after year, as one of the highest cultural moments on the cultural agenda of Mosteiros, and becoming a strategic instrument for promoting coffee, a “sui generis” product with high added value for the local economy. He emphasized that it has become a prestigious space for dialogue, exchange, sharing of knowledge, experiences, and good practices, within the coffee value chain, but also for promoting music, handicrafts, gastronomy, and artists, craftsmen, and other creators of art in Mosteiros.
